Steven S. Smith

Steve is USIndoor’s Membership Manager, having joined the association in January, 2013. From 1995-2010, he was with Plano Sports Authority, widely regarded at the time as the largest private non-profit youth sports organization in the United States, with over 50,000 participants in multiple indoor and outdoor sports. As Chief Administrative Officer, Steve was responsible for overseeing accounting, facilities, insurance and legal issues, corporate sponsorships, concessions, IT, and retail uniform/equipment sales. He was also heavily involved in the construction phases of PSA’s first two facilities that housed multi-use courts, turf, ice and a martial arts studio. It was during this time in 2002 when he became involved with USIndoor as a facility member, as well as sitting on its Members-Only Committee.

During 2011-2012, Steve worked with the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks NBA D-League team, coordinating youth camps and developing awareness among the local youth organizations. He has also been a referee of youth, high school and college sports since 1977, including soccer, football and lacrosse.

Steve's background in sports organization, corporate sponsorship, and facility planning and construction make him uniquely aware of the needs of USIndoor's different membership classifications. Now, returning to USIndoor, Steve brings this awareness, along with his appreciation of USIndoor's benefits and resources, and his own ideas, to connect with members and their individual and business goals. In so doing, Steve works closely with each department within USIndoor, ensuring value and goals consistent with membership and fostering beneficial relationships with and among members.

Steve played soccer at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. He lives in Plano with his wife Theressa. Their son Shea is in the Coast Guard, he has a degree in Aviation Science and is also a private helicopter instructor. Their daughter Stephanie is a college student focusing on criminal justice courses. Having recently lost over 50 pounds, Steve enjoys exercising outdoors almost every day.
